Bamboo the Earliest type of Fly Rods Used
Bamboo fly rods were the earliest type of fly rods used in the sport of fly-fishing. Today, bamboo fly rods are quite expensive they are most likely the most expensive fly rods you can buy. They are however, amazing strong and durable when you consider how fragile they look and feel.
These rods are more suited for a slow, soft casting style associated with slow, leisurely fishing. Bamboo rods are very graceful, but they can be difficult to handle in certain situations. Before the fly-angler moves to a bamboo fly rod it is recommended that, they have first mastered the art of casting and fighting fish on a fly rod.
Bamboo fly rods are hand constructed and may take as many as a hundred hours to complete. This is one reason they are so expensive. Another reason they are expensive is the fact that owning and using a bamboo fly rod will set you apart from the millions of fly anglers today. While there is no arguing their beauty, design, and artisanship, they are very temperamental as to how they are used.
The Bamboo fly rod is more for the traditionalist fly-fishing angler they are not a good choice for beginners.
