Fiberglass fly rods make for the best choice fly rod for beginners. The fiberglass fly rod is durable and considerably less expensive than the alternatives. Most mid-ranged fly fishing rods are made of fiberglass.

While these fly rods tend to be a little heavier in there actual weights they will take some abuse that, the more expensive fly rods will not. For the beginner fly angler this additional weight will most likely go unnoticed. As for their performance on the water, the novice fly angler will have better luck casting and fighting fish with a fiberglass rod, since they will take some abuse.

The fiberglass fly rod will also make for a good choice as a spare fly rod for the experienced fly angler as well. There really is no need to purchase a top of the line fly rod that you are rarely going to use.

The fiberglass fly rods perform well and even today with the newer rod available many fly anglers still prefer a fiberglass rod to the others. Just because it is made from fiberglass do not think you are choosing or fishing with an inferior fly rod. The makers of the fiberglass fly rod have put years of research into providing quality fly rods and they do perform extremely well. Why else would a majority of fly rods being made today be using fiberglass.
